About

The read for the people who build the industry.

The Marrow Report is an independent news and analysis firm covering the business of health, fitness, and wellness. We're for the people who don't just follow this industry, they build and fund it: operators, investors, developers, and the brands shaping where it goes. We don't race the headlines. We tell you what they mean.

Why “Marrow”

Marrow is the essence, the part beneath the surface where everything is actually made. That's the whole promise in a word: we cut past the noise to what matters. The read, not the feed. Depth over speed. In an industry drowning in press releases and hot takes, that's the entire point of us.

What We Do

Everything we publish is free, for the whole industry. The daily analysis across The Money, The Moves, The Science, and The Build, and The Read, our newsletter, are open to everyone, because reach is the point. When a decision gets bigger than any single story, that's where our premium work begins: Marrow Intelligence for the ongoing read on your business, Marrow Advisory for the one call that matters, and Partnerships for brands who want to reach the room that decides. Free media, powered by a firm that also goes to work when the stakes are high.

Independence

Independence is the whole point of Marrow. The read answers to one thing: the reader. Nothing we publish is shaped by who advertises, who partners with us, or who has a stake in the business, and nothing ever will be. We're deliberate about the company we keep precisely so that stays true. The day our coverage can be bought is the day it stops being worth reading, so it isn't for sale.

Why We Do This

This is the most meaningful industry there is to work in. Underneath the deals, the buildings, and the brands, it all comes down to one thing: people living longer, healthier, stronger lives. We serve the operators, investors, and builders moving the industry forward, because when they get the big calls right, the people they serve are the ones who win.

The People

Marrow is a firm, not a byline: the operator's read, powered by someone who's lived this industry and someone who systematizes it.

Ryan Hawkes
Founder, CEO & Editor-in-Chief

Ryan Hawkes

Ryan didn't study this industry from the outside; he built inside it. Twenty-two years, starting on the floor at twenty, he's done nearly every job it has: designing the facilities, specifying the equipment, hiring and leading the teams, building the brands, and building, operating, and ultimately selling a club of his own from nothing. That operator's education is why the people shaping the industry now bring him their biggest calls, from private equity weighing a target and manufacturers launching a line to operators repositioning and brands entering a new category. His edge isn't only the experience, it's the read: he can look at what's moving across the market, connect it to what he's actually lived, and tell you not just what the data says but what it means and what to do about it. That's the judgment behind everything Marrow publishes and every engagement it takes on.

Yinka Odofin
Co-Founder & COO

Yinka Odofin

Where Ryan brings the operator's judgment, Yinka brings the engineer's rigor. An engineer and project manager who has run complexity on some of the largest builds there are, from mission-critical data centers to major national infrastructure, he's the one who turns the research into a system: the architecture behind the desk that reads this industry every day. Nigerian-born and Canadian, he's lived and worked across dozens of countries, giving Marrow a genuinely global read on an industry moving fast everywhere, not just in North America. And off the desk, he's a skeleton athlete chasing a spot at the 2030 Winter Games, the same precision and nerve pointed at a different track.
